This was the hardest song to start and finish. I probably started this first and finished it last. I could not find a lyrical match to the music for years. I even think i tried to ask a few people along the way to write the lyrics for this one for me as I was stuck. Finally one night in Frisco at 3pm when I couldn't sleep but was exhausted the words finally came out. I tried to build these big harmonies in the chorus based on bands like Simon and Garfunkel and Styx and all the great bands from my youth that influenced me.
